Weekly Journal, Week 3.1
My team was going to have a presentation this week, and I was really looking forward to seeing what they did, but did not happen. Due to poor scheduling because of confuse of time zone, they did not meet for the presentation. They did say they will reschedule it, so waiting to hear back when that will be. I was able to see a PowerPoint of the slides that they made, which was nice, but the slides only showed artwork. They also showed some work of their crab artwork in Discord.
I don't know how the team is effectively communicating with each other through Teams and Discord channels. A meeting was live for over 5 hours on Friday in Teams, and for the most part they keep the channel open, but no one really takes about what they are doing. They will say what they are eating for lunch and then say they are switching to Discord. Trello seems to be where they keep account of their sprints and framework.
For me, I have been going through the different mini-games, but most do not work. I thought for a while I was doing something wrong, or maybe I download the wrong version, until I spoke with Vanessa. After talking with her, I found out that most of the mini-games are not currently functional or they only semi-functional. And since there are only a few programmers to fix these problems this semester, it might take some time. Once I understood that, I was able to focus back onto documenting the main rooms of the game.
My daughter has been working with me and playing the game and giving me some excellent insight. She feels the YouTube channel is close to Blue Clues, but not as clear. As for the game, she thinks for a 3-5 year age group it will be well liked. But at her age (11 years old), she says, "not for her." Next, I will have my 5-year-old step-daughter play the game with my daughter to see how well my daughter can explain the game to a 5-year-old and see how my step-daughter feels about it. Once my findings are done, I will write up a report and send it to my team.
