Assignment 7.5.2: Video Pitch Feedback
Assignment 7.5.2: Video Pitch Feedback
Our video pitch was fun to do and stressful. It was fun because it was something I had never done before, and I got my kids involved, which had me laughing all the time. It was stressful because we got no help from the undergrad's team and just felt lost at times on how to make a video of a video game. But after doing the video pitch, this is what I have learned.
What did you learn from seeing the other students' pitches?
I should have asked some of our classmates for help, they did an amazing job and might have been able to give us some pointers on how to make a video pitch on a video game.
How could you improve your pitch based on what you learned?
I would have shown more game play and would have liked access to what new stuff the undergrads were working on to be able to include that in the pitch.
What are some differences between the different types / styles of pitches presented and which did you prefer?
I definitely liked more of the pitches that were just not slides with the person talking. Some of them felt like they were just reading a paper out loud. The pitches that showed the game and had graphics and music were really entertaining.
What if some of the information was switched around -- that is -- if you were still Producing, but you had another student's team, and were making a third student's team's game, how would it turn out?
Absolutely no idea how it would turn out.
How important do you feel the ability to "pitch the team" is compared to "pitch the game" and "pitch the process"?
Depends on your audience that you are pitching too.
If you had to risk $30M of your own money on one of these, which would you find most important?
For me because I don't have a background in games, and if I were to invest my own money into a game, I would be looking to get in and get out with a profit. So for me, it would be "pitch the game" because I would be investing that the game already had an audience and would sale. The team and process would be somewhat influential in my decision, but by the time I would invest, I would have expected that to be already figured out. So, that way, I would be sold on the game itself only.
