Assignment 7.2: Weekly Journal

Image
Assignment 7.2: Weekly Journal          This week, was probably the most fun I have had all class! We started out at the beginning of this class without much of an idea of how the end of the class project would work. There was so much uncertainty with working with the undergrad team, that most of the class, that I was beginning to think, "what was the point to this class?" Then I started to communicate with my classmate Enitza, and she opened my mind into how what we were learning in this class have so many applications into other fields other than just making videos games.      With a new creative outlook into this class, I was able to come up with a different approach to making a game pitch that was not just talking about the technical specs of a game, which is what I would have done in the past. I was able to add the fun back into a pitch, and hopefully we were able to talk about how games can be used to help children with growth developm...

Assignment 7.5: Postmortem

Assignment 7.5: Postmortem       This class really pushed me and took me out of what I was comfortable with. It was a great experience being able to share this class with my kids and working with them. By the end of this class, my son who is 13 is now working with a friend of his to design a mini-game from Roblox. This class has opened my eyes to a whole new world that I was never aware of before. What new ideas did you learn?             For me, I learned how much more goes into making games then just what I thought did. I always knew there was a lot of programming, but really did not think about how much teamwork and creative ideas sharing go into the game process before it gets to the programming part. There are so many steps that all have to come together to get to the end project. What did you find the most helpful or useful?            Hearing classmates thoughts on game ...

Assignment 7.5.2: Video Pitch Feedback

Assignment 7.5.2: Video Pitch Feedback   Our video pitch was fun to do and stressful. It was fun because it was something I had never done before, and I got my kids involved, which had me laughing all the time. It was stressful because we got no help from the undergrad's team and just felt lost at times on how to make a video of a video game. But after doing the video pitch, this is what I have learned.  What did you learn from seeing the other students' pitches?     I should have asked some of our classmates for help, they did an amazing job and might have been able to give us some pointers on how to make a video pitch on a video game. How could you improve your pitch  based on what you learned?        I would have shown more game play and would have liked access to what new stuff the undergrads were working on to be able to include that in the pitch. What are some differences between the different types / styles of pitches ...

Assignment 6.2: Weekly Journal

Assignment 6.2: Weekly Journal     This week was more fun than last week because I got to get my kids more involved than before. The undergrad team I think have all but forgot about us. I have heard nothing from anyone in the team at all this week again. I have also not reached out to them either, I want to, but I never know what I should say now. Not only that, but I feel like this team with us are too far lost to get back on track before this class is over with. Furthermore, I feel there was a real lack of communication and leadership within the undergrad team with Enitza and myself.      The game seems to be coming along nicely, from the screenshots the team as shared with Discord. When my kids were playing the game, there were some mini-games that they had a fun time with. My daughter really liked the animal sounds a lot, and they made her laugh. My son who is older at 13 asked a lot of tech questions about the game and how it works. He is n...

Journal Week 5.1 - 2/7/22 - 2/13/22

Journal Week 5.1 - 2/7/22 - 2/13/22             Last week, I ended my Journal Week 4 with "I am frustrated." This week, I am beyond frustrated with my undergrad team. Or should I say not frustrated with the "team", but more the Scrum Master Jake & Scrum Project Owner Skylar ! Enitza and I have both reached out multiple times to get information from these Scrum teammates, and they both say the other one will get back to us. Then its crickets....       I do have to give a shootout to Vanessa and Novali who have at least given Enitza and I some attention and have done their best to answer questions when we have asked them. Normally within 24 hours of us asking them. Without these two individuals, we would still be sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting for some answers to our questions throughout this process.       Enitza and I have been brainstorming ideas on how to show this game in a positive...

Weekly Journal, Week 4.1

Journal Week 4 - 1/31/22-2/6/22      Well, this week with my team has been a lot of the same since the beginning of class. No real communication with the undergrad team. I am at a lost of what I should do anymore with getting information from them. I contacted Jake who is the lead for Fizzlings Fun House, and the lead for or almost lead for two other groups on Tuesday. I just wanted to see how the team was doing and to see if there was anything else that they might need me for, other than just documenting the rooms of the game. Furthermore, I also let him know that I was having my kids play the game and would create a write-up of what they thought of the game, but was a little behind on that since my step-daughter who is 5 years old had Covid. He let me know that there was nothing else to do for their team as of right then, but that he had a meeting the next day with his team because they were having some trouble with their programmers and might have something for m...
